Actually, if you really like to drum and want to bring it to the campfire... you should check into getting a cajon (box drum). Guitar Center has the Meinl ones (which are excellent cajons) starting at around $100. Of course, they can start to run up into the several hundred dollar range, if you want a fancy, burled front-plate or exotic wood. But, the standard ones play just as well.
