A terrible evening, awesome wife and best friend.

I hate losing a deer like that , but it sometimes happens. More than likely a grazing wound and the deer will be fine!
Great score on the bade!

Sucks to lose one. As a newbie hunter, I arrowed my second ever deer the evening before Thanksgiving. The arrow didn't pass through, and I couldn't find a blood trail, so I figured it was a bad hit, maybe in the rump. Went to where I last saw her running away, and spent about 90 minutes in the dark crawling through willow thickets and cattails trying to find some sign. Finally gave up, and hit it again at daybreak on Thanksgiving morning. Got lucky, found a blood droplet, and then a trail. Within a 100 yds found my gutshot button buck. That was unpleasant, but at least there is some meat in the freezer.

Great story on the AK.
