A thank you or two

One thing that stops me dead in my tracks about "our little corner of the internet" at least once a week is the generosity. That same generosity is perhaps even amplified at the gathering: from the Psyop family cookies, to the campfire cooking of Ethan himself. The tone of the weekend was all about ethos and fun, so I set this thread here to try to acknowledge everyone's generosity to me.
Please feel free to add your own acknowledgements or thanks to your fellow Beckerheads to this thread, whether they originate from the gathering or not!

Here's a pic of some of the take home loot I made off with!!!

Pictured on my new "Hasty pack 27" that DerekH got me to buy (well needed) are the following:

A length of trademark orange paracord and some surgical tubing from Averageiowaguy, some "horsemat" material for scales from 1066Vik, a hearty fistful of Murph's stones, some of the (ridiculously flammable) rope we used for the hanging rope cut and a well-needed new hat from Ethan himself, a micro-tomahawk head made from some of the O-1 scraps graciously provided by the frequently misnomer-ed TMHunt on the portable forge of 1066Vik (with much, much help).

And a special thanks goes out to both OREGON FAL'ER and Captain Airyca, who made sure those sweet hickory scale blanks from Oregon Fal'er himself (that have all the work that I don't have the tooling to do at home already done to them) found their way to me-- I will post followup when I get the chance to finish them out.

Not pictured are the remainder of the O-1 scraps, and sweet sticker also donated by TMhunt.

I know it's a lengthy thank you post, but I've found a lot to be thankful for after this weekend, to say nothing of the hospitality from not only the most gracious Mr. Becker, to every other Beckerhead in attendance; THANK YOU!

Nice haul! That is a sweet little hawk you have there.

Those honing stones from Murph are great, I use them almost every day. I've even snapped them in two to fit into my repair kits. I hold (or pinch rather) them with my thumb on one end, and index finger on another. With some practice you can sharpen some pretty large blades with only a 2" piece of stone. I also drag the end corners on concrete to bevel the edges so they do not tear apart my bags and such.

very cool. sounds like it was a great time. thanks for sharing. man, i hope to be able to go someday

Thats awesome, this is definetly a great group of people thats for sure. its so family oriented and people are quik to help one another out. i love it. the comradery makes being a beckerhead more than
about knives.

Now that i built that team spirit up, can i borrow one of them stones, lmao

Hey worldwood, I'm sure if you agreed to pay shipping Murph would be more than happy to send you some stones. And if not, let me know and I'll knock around a little for ya! :D

I'd like to say thanks to Ethan for the hospitality and the awesome food, to Murph for the stones, and to the entire group for being a great group of people to hang out with for the weekend. Before the first gathering it had been years since I was willing to hang out in the woods with one person much less twenty.

What Mr. Pointy didn't mention was his own generousity. He home brewed and brought two kegs of some of the finest tasting swill ever to grace the pallet. (I can't talk as sophisticated as he does) I've tried beermaking a few times folks and let me tell you what he did was no easy task and it was free for the taking. I had met Pointy in the spring and liked the dude a lot. But this time around, I feel that we really bonded and I am very thankfull for my new friend. Thanks Pointy for your delicious brew. Can't wait to taste what ya bring in the spring........You WILL be bringing beer right?

Thanks bro, i dont need alot just 1 or 2 is perfect and sure i dont mind paying shipping AT ALL :) but it will be after the weather in philadelphia calms down. i just set up paypal but the only way i can add funds at the moment is a moneypak and the weather isnt good enough for me to run to the store. but soon as it calms down id be happy too. Soon as i get the moneypak ill send an email to murph, if he is out ill hit you up, thanks again man.

one quick correction -- the horse stall mat came from Todd in the sack of O-1 scraps. I was just nice enough not to bogart all of it on the way out the door. :)

Thanks to everyone for the great time, and again, to Ethan for hosting us.

I made off with a few of those stones Murph and some surgical tubing from Doc.

Derek gave me a set of liners for the tweener handles, and as he has expounded several times on this forum, they are a great improvement.

Ethan also gave me a brand new BK-9 for the chopping contest.

mmm, cherry beer from pointy was quite good!

A few thank you's from me...

First, of course, is Ethan. He is definitely the host with the most. The man is gracious and thinks of his guests at all times. He is also a damned good cook.
He gave me some weekend swag, and I very much appreciate it. Reviews forthcoming at some point.

Thanks to all the chefs (DerekH, Pointy, Captain, rolled edge) who fed me bacon and sausage Sunday morning. I was feeling kind of rough, and it brought me to life.

Thanks to the Captain for the ibuprofen. See above.

Thanks to Ark for the cognac cigar. Despite what Moose said, it was anything but a rolled dog turd.

Thanks to Hawk for taking the time to show me that night vision scope. Superlatives all around there.

Thanks to aig for his backwoods medicine talk. VERY informative and sound logic. The talk also had depth in terms of experience and references. Good stuff.

Thanks to D for not killing us on the slippery drive down the hill. Death avoidance is always appreciated.

Thanks to Terence Hunt for bringing those most excellent knives. I will be proud to carry and use them.

Thanks to Murph for the stones. I grabbed a few more for murses.

Thanks to everyone else for the camaraderie and laughs. Hearty laughter will cure what ails you.

so now that we're friends is it safe to tell you the mower was behind the shop under the new awning?

Bastards. I was forced to nap in a camp chair.

Oh yeah, thanks for helping with the bolt mods and for passing along some of the horse stall mat. Always good to see the mutant Viking.

Cognac cigar sounds delightful. was this a commercial cigar dipped in cognac or a hand rolled cigar of his? just curious i like me some cigars.

Ark can provide details. The man knows his cigars.
