First off a BIG thank you to Never to Sharp for the Mora Craftline HighQ in carbon steel that I won in a giveaway, he also sent a fire kit. Since I got it I have used it for many household tasks. Recently I had a change to go for a little hike and test it in the woods.

BTW People are not kidding when they say Mora are wicked sharp!

I have to admit I am impressed with it. Felt good in my hand and did will with I threw it around in the dirt and mud. Washed it off in the lake and good as new. My only issue was the sheath; When ever I reached near my pocket my skin grabbed a hold of the knife and started to pull it out of the sheath. This was also majorly the humidity making my skin very sticky. However it never fell out despite my walking off the typical trails.
I like the mora as a all around camp knife but worry about its thin blade with too much stress.

All photos taken using Canon T2i (15-55 mm lens and 55-200mm lens

Very nice pictures!
Thanks for posting them for us.
Lucky you on winning that knife!
Its like Christmas in July :D

Thats about as good as it gets with the 510 discontinued. I had one and beat the hell outta it. My helper owns it now...he loves it, and thanks to me teaching him, his is as sharp as hell to.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts + pics - and congrats on your first mora.
I resisted a long time the thought of owning and using such a thin blade....not anymore...

PS Also thanks for letting us know what camera model you used. I'm about to pull the trigger on a digital slr and I'm undecided between nikon and canon....it seems the canon will win.

The Carbon HighQ is a great camp/field knife. The blade is thin but the scandi cuts great. I also liked that sunfish. Good eats.

I'm glad you're enjoying the knife and tinder kit. Those Moras do come sharp, but not quite as sharp as that one. ;) Don't worry about it breaking, it'll hold up fine as long as you're not using it as a tree step. And besides, it was free! :p

That looks like a real nice place.

I have also recently purchased a Mora BushCraft Forest. My first one. WICKED SHARP !!! I recently stripped the bark off a walking stick i'm making. LOTS of cutting. When i was done, it was still sharp, but not wicked sharp. It only took ONE SWIPE on each side on my ceramic stick to make it hair popping sharp again. AWESOME !!! Geat pics Thanks for sharing.

gave the one i had away - guess it had too many voids or something in the handle, the partial tang felt wiggly. don't remember who got it, gut i hope it serves them well.

full tang or bust :)

No secret I love me the moras... The high q is a great model.. and I;ve had the pleasure of meeting never too sharp... he;s a great Guy.

I bought a HighQ Allround Carbon for $10. TEN BUCKS!

Talk about cheap junk, only it failed to be junk - it's cheap enough but it has a really comfortable handle and the tang goes about 2/3rds of the way into the handle so it is pretty durable. The blade quickly and easily sharpens to insanely sharp with a few minutes on my strop and it cuts like you wouldn't believe - great for carving wood.

The blade is not very big - if I bring a big full tang knife for chopping and batoning then the HighQ is a good choice for the detail work that the big knife isn't so good at. If I go into the bush with my BK-9 or BK-7 or ESEE Lite Machete or KA-BAR Kukri Machete or HI Ganga Ram Khukuri + my HighQ then I can handle whatever knife tasks are required. I pretty much never take only one knife and for my #2 knife that handles the detail work I think my HighQ Allround might be my very favourite!

For anyone that has never tried a Mora and isn't sure if they would like one, try a HighQ Allround Carbon - cheap, but not junk. Take it into the bush and carve some tent stakes or make some fuzz sticks or carve a spoon - I think you'll be surprised at how good a bargain priced knife can be!

Ever since I found a clicking noise in my Mora 511, I've been batoning it more to see if it would break. It's held up pretty well, and it's got such a nice blade on it. Definitely my favorite knife to carve with.
