A thought came to me recently...

I'm happy to have seen the notice, and having the opportunity to get in on this. If I get some, great, if I don't, that's OK too. I agree regardless of my outcome in this that it is a nice gesture by Jerry.

To the whiners - pipe down, suck it up, and get over it.

I also think that there are some people who aren't really into the spirit of collecting but are here to make a quick buck, so they cry and whine when they don't get that particular knife that they know they're going to make 30 to 50 percent profit on down the road! Most of my stuff was also purchased on the secondary market and I've owned most of it for about 3 years or more! As I've previously eluded to, Real Hogs have thick skin and we can handle the ups and downs of collecting and Hogdom!

Well said. :)

Keep it up Ed and I am going to add you to my ignore list! :D:p
Don't you mean "Keep it up Ed I going to you my ignore list!" ???

NO RGRETS!, right PG? :D

Okay, enough ribbing. We all make typos. Believe me, I know. I have taught college composition in the past. My favorite typo came from a young lady who had interned at a local radio station. She began her first out-of-class essay, "I always wanted to be a dick jockey." True story.

Well said Progunner! Being a newbie here I have been sitting back, watching, learning, and throwing my two cents in once in a while on the forums. I am a piglet for now, having only three pieces of infi, and one from the swamp. I decided awhile ago that I would have to do like a lot of forumites apparently do and that is acquire my infi on the secondary market or thru the store (if available). I have seen a number of the whiners comment and it's childish. I have neither the time nor inclination to participate in the "Extravaganzas", which means more for those of you that do. I enjoy reading the results after though. For those of you that feel you have to whine, just shut the * *ll up!

Dick jockey? Did you pass her? :D ;)
A bastion of professionalism, I innocently circled the word dick and wrote "sp?" in the margin. And I suppressed the smirk when I handed back her paper.

You're a better person than I. I wouldn't be able to resist some smart arsed comment in the margin. Something along the lines of "That is fascinating, I think I can help you out in that department, meet me after class. I'll bring the hand cuffs." :D

No smart arsed comments about me thinking either.

When ever we have one of these free for all type sales, there are always some folks who cry foul, some even go so far as claim there is some disparity in fairness. They elude to there being some sort of private "Good Ole boys club" who get preferential treatment. When this happens, I think of the following:

We all know that there are "HOGS" who have very good sized collections valued in the thousands at current market prices and that many of these big collections were built from buying a majority of those knives on the secondary market. Sure they buy some new from Jerry, but most of their stuff is secondary market. There isn't a damn thing wrong with that, no regrets. Now if there really were some sort of unlevel playing field and a preferential "Good ole boys club" wouldn't it stand to reason that Jerry would avoid all this mess and work involved in these free for all sales by just privately offering these sort of knives to the folks who buy a majority of their blades directly from him? It isn't like he doesn't know how much we spend with him directly. That sure would make things a lot less hectic for him and his crew, while filling his pocket all the same, but he doesn't do that. He tries to give back to the community that helps make his knives sought after. The knives on their own do all the talking my friends, but we just kind of bolster them with our vehement collecting. Just a little something that came to mind this morning.

Interesting thoughts.

I think you hit the nail right on the head.

alright, enough spelling and grammar checking. as has been said before, i am a newcomer myself, and definitely no hog. but i can see the point to extravaganzaaaaas and what not, and am just glad that we have the opportunity to share in this wonderful steel. some people will always whine when they don't get what they want, it's just human nature. the trick is to learn and adapt, and get a quicker mouse finger when it comes to getting in on the little glimpses into the trough (or nest) that we get. it's a variation of darwin's theory in full effect, the quickest to the trough survive. :D

Any posibility that it was NOT a typo?
