a thread about folding knives

I’m sorry in advance for hating on this knife, but there’s a design flaw that kills it for me. The pocket clip is too pointy. It is also recessed into the handle and fully integrated into the knife design so removing it would hurt the aesthetics and leave a hole. It creates a hotspot and it pokes my finger when I flip it open, but my real complaint is that the tip of this clip pokes into the stitching of the T shirts I wear and pulls it, to where I had to cut the hem on two of my beloved shirts, a slow and cruel shirt death...UNFORGIVABLE!!

The very pointy point where the clip contacts the knife also bothers me. Pointy everywhere. Why’s it have to be so pointy.

See if these guys have any replacement options?

I have a couple of their deep carry clips for my ZT knives, and can recommend them.

What knife is that?

I recently bought, and almost immediately sold a $$$ Cheburkov Scout because of the pocket clip, and then very nearly bought that very knife. I did cast a dubious eye at that clip. I ended up not buying due to limited funds. I would have been more than mildly irritated with myself if I had once again been taken in on a knife I really shouldn't buy and been so disappointed with it's clip.

At this time I would like 3-4in blade with a good slicing yet robust blade. Steel that is pretty tough and stainless like Elmax or anything similar. I do like frame locks and liner locks, and I would also like a flipper piece or spydie type hole for opening.
With that said I think that something designed by you guys would be pretty awesome! I’m excited to see the ideas and designs that are produced.

Our first folder will be very simple. A folding Field Knife with some similarities to the build of a Sebenza. I'll make a few and get some out into the wild for testing as soon as I can.

PSA:

Spydiechefs are now back in stock as of this AM. I think that I can mention BHQ and DLT since they are BF.com supporting dealers.

On the knife itself, a goofy looking shipfoot-ish bladed knife which is a great slicer like many FFG Spydies. The steel is the uber SS LC200n which is why I keep going back to Spyderco when they churn out a winner, i.e, great steels with great HTs and grinds despite goofy appearances. Only a very large Co like Spyderco can present us steel snobs with such varied choices because of all their connections, industry gravitas and know-how.

OK, nuff p*mping!
