as for the finish, after I do the heat treat and testing of the edge I go back to the grinder and clean it all up to 400 grit then I block sand to 600 grit over all surfaces, and I do this with a little oil and wet dry paper. (this is not 600P)
if I am useing P grit I go to 1000P
then I clean the blade (alot of cleaning) when I am sure there is no oil or finger prints I put it down in 50/50 etch for about 3 minutes.
then I wash it down with "Windex" take it to the sink and scrub it with a soft cloth and lot of soap ,as hot as I can stand the water I rinse her off and let it air dry. then a light cote of clove oil. thats about all. (sounds like more work than it is):D
