This last week at SHOT, I was at the TOPS table, and saw the prototypes for their new Tracker necker. I picked it up and and raised an eyebrow. I never was a fan of the design, until now. I will definitely say, that in this small package, that knife could do everything I would ask of a necker, and a whole lot more. That little change in the grind would skin well, and I could see myself keeping the smaller edge sharp, changing it to scandi, and using the hatchet portion for prying logs, doing abusive work, scoring, or basically anything else I would do with a necker. The serrations on the back, now a little bit smaller and more hunched together, "feel" like they would work well, but I wouldn't know until I get it on wood. I am eating my words on any smack talk I've said about the WSK design and concept, in the past. In this little arrangement, it looks good.
Joe-"take two slices of bread, but thy old thoughts of tracker knife in between, and prepare to eat thyne own words!"
Really opened my eyes about changing sizes of some knives to see how they look. I couldn't put the dang thing down. I think it would make a fantastic W&SS savy person, really happy.

This picture does NO justice dangit, I should have got an "in hand" pic. I may go try to see if I can find one, still
Imagine the tracker at 1/8 with roughly a 2-3 inch edge, and handle. Simply awesome. I couldn't believe I was so thrilled by it. Lady Gaga could have designed the thing and I would still be posting this.

I'd like to know how this would do as a necker. Keep us posted on if you obtain one or not.

That's pretty darn cool man. Are there any solid specs on the knife on the interwebs anywhere? I admit to not liking the tracker too and although I'm still not fond of the saw back, that could be a cool knife.

How was the edge geometry Joe. I know the few TOP's knives I have handled had some realy thick edges which I didn't care for.

That is pretty cool. Where's pitdog, he needs one of these to test out for us! ;)

I hardly see how it makes more sense than the previous one.

Actually being smaller it seems even less effective.

Haaaaaahahhahha..... thats funny!

Since you handled it, I'll take your word for it. I have a Tops Pasayten. My favorite outdoor knife when I don't have a hatchet or saw. I have held a Tops Tracker. Didn't care for anything about it. But as you said, changing the size might bring a whole new viewpoint. Good stuff.

Don't let the elves get hold of those those or they'll take over the woods.

Ravaillac, -- it's a sandwich knife! :D

ALOT better than many I've seen in the past. I was looking

Mini me could go rogue and start killing midget hunters in the forest with this. We'd have to send mini-Tommy lee jones after him though.

a mini tommy lee jones? like troll?

I just hope it's price is smaller than the other tracker models because that is one of the main reasons I have never really looked into them a lot
