A traditional for the office? :)

I'm looking to pickup a traditional for office carry. I'm carrying a Chestnut Bone Sod Buster jr. currently. It's a great knife but it's a bit wider than I like (not side to side; front to back). I want something that disappears more in the pocket. I'm leaning towards a medium stockman (or small) or a peanut. I know the Peanut will disappear in pocket but how would a medium stockman do? I wear khakis daily and occasionally slacks.

Here's the deal:

Has to be a Case.
Has to be Chrome Vanadium.

Medium stockman would do fine. One of my favorite office carries is a medium stockman at 3.25". I have a peanut too that I rarely ever carry. I actually prefer my little Case canoe pattern to the peanut but that might just be because it was a fathers day gift so it has a lot of sentimental value to me. :) The peanut and the little canoe pattern literally disappear in my pocket but the medium stockman I can still tell it's there sometimes as it likes to turn sideways in my slacks.

I like the idea of the stockman for this reason:

Pen/Spey point; general purpose.
Sheepsfoot: boxes/tape/envelopes
Clip (main blade): food prep.

Case Medium Stockman in yellow Delrin, and CV. Pattern 3318CV

I wear khakis to work every day and carry this knife. It disappears in my pocket just fine. I also carry a chestnut bone cv sodbuster jr and dont have a problem with it though. Cant go wrong with the 3 blade versatility and size of the medium stockman. Go for it!

The 44 pattern medium stockman is the smallest of the mediums. Available in red bone & other covers also CV blades.
here's a shot of mine with a mini copperhead & a half whittler size comparison.

Browse around here: http://www.wrcase.com/knives/by_steel/cv/

I find the rounded bolsters of the Case '18 pattern Medium Stockman make it work better for pocket carry than the squared bolsters of the '032.

A nice smaller stockman is the 6344, which is available in Red Bone CV, as is the 63087 Stockman, though the 087 stockman doesn't have a sheepfoot blade, so it's more like a 2-spring Pen with an extra spey blade. The 32087 Pen knife in yellow Delrin CV is a slim single-spring pocket carry.

I have a few (poor quality) comparison shots of some different Case CV knives:

Peanut, 63087 Medium Stockman, 6318 Medium Stockman:

6344 Medium Stockman and 63087 Medium Stockman (both Dark Red Bone CV):

This pic adds a Mini Trapper into the mix. The original purpose of the pic was to compare the spey blades on them, with a Peanut for size comparison.

Good point Jc I wish they made the 44 with rounded bolsters. I have a 87 pen also in SS one of my oldest Case knives & it is almost
invisible in the pocket. wish they would offer it with some jigged bone

I would not say those are poor quality photos, much better than most of mine

I have an older 62087 Pen with bone handles, in SS, pictured here with a Mini Trapper and a 6333 Small Stockman for comparison:

The 6318 medium stockman is very pocket friendly. I also like the Mini Trapper and the Sway Back Gent (and Jack). The single blade wharncliffe Stag Rancher Mini Trapper is naturally slimmer than the 2 blade version and is in CV. They just released (limited) the Sway Back Gent Burnt Barnboard in Damascus. I got mine last week and have been very impressed with the damascus so far and the Sway Back Gent (and Jack) is a great pattern. I don't have a photo of it yet but will get one up later.

Not quite what you are looking for as ground SS no high polish but very slim & light should carry well in khakis

I've really been happy carrying the Case Teardrop jack, but it's stainless. It carries very nicely and I'm in an office environment so it's not a "scary" blade to take out and use. The other knife that I carry is a Case Yellow pen knife in CV. It's bigger than the peanut, but not as big as a medium stockman. Very office and pants friendly. Combined with a SAK Classic and you're good to go!

I carried a case canoe pattern for a while. Wonderfully slim in the pocker and versatile two blades.

Swayback jack all the way to retirement :)
Also, a main wharncliffe works great as letter opener as well ;)

What Fausto says, the Swayback Jack was also made with Chestnut Jigged Bone in CV steel.

The whole knife is making a great gentleman´s folder due to its shape.

If you can find it...

Thank you all for taking the time to thoughtfully respond and add pictures.

I hate to say it but I think I've wasted all of our time. I really do like the SBJr. pattern. I think two things got me to thinking I needed something else; 1. I just like to buy knives. 2. I think of the SBjr. as a "work" knife and not necessarily a gentlemen's type folder. This chestnut bone is just classy to me though.
