A traditional for the office? :)

How could this possibly be a waste of our time? We like posting on this forum, and without threads like this we would run out of stuff to post about. :)

Thank you all for taking the time to thoughtfully respond and add pictures.

I hate to say it but I think I've wasted all of our time. I really do like the SBJr. pattern. I think two things got me to thinking I needed something else; 1. I just like to buy knives. 2. I think of the SBjr. as a "work" knife and not necessarily a gentlemen's type folder. This chestnut bone is just classy to me though.

OK now; for wasting all of our time!

Your punishment is......

Buy a new knife anyway!

I think your SBJr. looks classy enough for the office!

Never one to argue with Carl I still carry the medium stockman at work. I prefer the longer handle and the extra blade over the peanut. Carl is the reason I own two peanuts however.

I really love a SBJr. but I would like to try a Peanut. It's just hard to try one when they cost as much as the stockman/trappers, lol.

I appreciate the grace, fellows. :)

If the issue with the SBJr is the feel in the pocket when wearing dress slacks....

... My experience is that flatter patterns carry better in dress slacks than those with rounder or more square lateral profiles. For example, my flat Buck 500 carries better than my rounder and lighter Opinel 9. My flat and smaller Schrade 5OT (similar to a Buck 501) carries even better.

To stay inside of you Case CV requirements, you might give the Canoe a close look.

Swayback jack all the way to retirement :)
Also, a main wharncliffe works great as letter opener as well ;)

Exactly my thought. Also mid. stockman, mid trapper will suit you fine.

Mike

PS- I know you prefer CV but there are very nice examples of damascus for these models.

Edit - you may consider Case Bose teardrop jack

The pen is the way to go if you can find it! But if not the half whittler is a fine substitute! I carry a half whittler from a different brand myself. I love it! Not to stab my peanut club in the back or anything of the sort...but it's a lot more useful than the peanut as fond as I am of the peanut! The seahorse whittler is pretty awesome too, especially in pacific blue!

I would suggest the GEC Pemberton 06. Or possibly the 22 Magnum.

I don't have a specific pattern suggestion (I think you've have the whole CV line in "consideration") - although I do wear slacks to the office on occasion, and always when working out of town. I've found that with a leather slip, nearly any pattern (although especially single blades) will disappear in my pocket. The main problem with me and slacks is when the knife sits sideways in my pocket. The leather slip solved that, and I'll comfortably carry anything shy of a GEC #23 in slacks. My favorites are the ones KSF sends out with the Northwoods knives, like this (the other one they make, with the flap over the top, is too bulky IMO):

Just throwing this out there, but fallkniven had a gentleman's folder that's pretty awesome. Genhamen I think it's called
