a trapper for a trapper and a little wine...

Thanks, I'll check those out. I really like how the wine covers turned out.

yep do a search in maintenance, a few guys have tutorial threads with picts on doing it. that being said i taped up mine to try to protect the metal as much as possible but the RIT dye is corrosive so you will get weird/funky looking staining of the blades. if i remember the other threads correctly they were all stainless, no mention of the CV staining
take care with it and good luck

i make no excuses for my irrational dislike of the trapper pattern:eek: i always manage to get gifted one, while i appreciate the gifts i dont carry or use them so ive been forwarding them (save one special one) to a knife nut buddy of mine that loves 'em, in return he sent this little Moore Maker, pretty green bone, carbon steel... and ive actually been carrying the little guy, suppose i finally found a trapper i like:)
Also included my Case Amberbone stockman that i redyed using RIT "Wine" dye, turned out really nice but man, panicked freak out doing a CV knife and what it does to the steel, even taping it up etc. Not for the faint of heart:D
hope y'all had a great holiday

Nice, I see that you are into the old front loader game as well, there is nothing like the stink of black powder, not so ?.

yep at 41 years old and a long time reading and admiring i took my first shot with a .32 at Friendship this summer, hooked, have a Black Powder friend showing me the ropes and schoolin me, taking my old (new to me) CVA Hawkens down there to shoot this spring, cant wait
still amassing all the stuff, piece by piece needed to maintain and feed it, but thats part of the fun:)
probably have my case yeller stockman in my pocket when i go, but then again its always in my pocket my one constant and most used knife
