Today me and my family visited the Gränsfors Axe factory in the middle of Sweden. It´s placed in absolutely nowhere (in Hälsingland).

This is the steel bars they make this awesome axes from.

They are heated up to 1200 degree Celcius!

Then they hammer the steel bar into axe-heads with this machine (from 1930-40). It takes some skill to master this huge machine.

Loads of axes for export!

This is where they heattreat the axes to about 60 Rockwell. No one was there when we visited the factory.

One of (I think) four sharpening system in the factory.

That is so cool! My favorite thing to see on these factory "tours" is the sharpening. I love to see the different methods different companies use.

Great pictures!! Thanks for posting those. Looks like a great trip to the factory. I would love to have a few of their products.

That must have been really interesting! I've had a small wilderness axe / hatchet for a couple years and love it!

I love my GB axes! :D

Thanks for the pics. I also have a small woodsman axe that's been on countless camping trips over the years and still works great. Quality steel takes and keeps a great edge. :)

I have been wanting one of their axes for a long while. Now, I REALLY want one! Thanks for the tour!
