A true one of a kind. Rehandled Killa B

I apologize to everyone I have offended and upset by posting. This will not happen again.

KalEl, Although the apology is appreciated, I don't think it is really necessary. It's not you posting in general, just the chain of events on this...and it's not so much you, but the original offender that still has me, and maybe a few others still affected when matters such as this arise. Where you may have had good intentions, his were out of greed and damn the spirit of the forum. The ripples he created still exist...at least in my mind. I don't want you to think that I'm telling you to not participate here, because that's not where I'm going with this at all. :) He got slack and took advantage of those who gave it. Because of that, he's changed the way I respond when I see something similar as a post. Unfortunately, and mainly because of him, the expression, 'If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to want a glass of milk...' has stuck on me.

...Anyway, it's time for a beer or...10. ;) Drink 'em if ya got 'em!

really nice looking knife , great job.

are slabs maple ?

In his original post (Post #1) he said that they were of 'underground curly Koa'. Nice wood, it really pops nicely. :)

The wood is underground curly Koa from Mark Farley. According to Mark it is harvested from the underground portion of the tree and has a different color pattern than standard Koa due to exposure to minerals. Its my favorite wood but is really expensive and is kind of hard to come by so I haven't gotten to use it much. It really pops like no other wood out there. I use other curly and burl woods like walnut and mango which pop quite nicely but NOTHING looks quite like underground Koa in terms of liveliness and contrast. A very generous forum member here, gunfixerjoe hooked me up with some fantastic koa that Ill get to use as soon as It gets back from being stabilized. My favorite part of doing handles is picking out a nice piece of wood and getting to incorporate the beauty that nature provides into a working tool.

It is nice to see members and mods participating in a productive and civilized discussion. Usually these gray area confusions get defensive and rude on both sides. Part of what makes the Busse family such a pleasure to be around are the great folks that are incolved in it.

Cheers!

KalEl,

I hope this does not discourage you from posting the mods you do. I really enjoy seeing the exposed tangs without having to take mine apart and the finish project is always terrific. You are a talented dude. I look forward to your next one.

I may have to check, but as I understand it, Dealer/Materials provider members can't advertise in discussion forums either. If any other Mod reads this and finds that I'm wrong, please tell so me here or shoot me a PM. :)
Indeed, its an area which is very much in debate. I'm heading for bed soon as I am worn out and not thinking whole, but I do want to put something here before it goes farther.

Its my understanding that dealers are to keep their dealings to the dealers exchange, especially since the aforementioned blight on the good guys here. The proverbial One who makes it difficult on everyone following him. He was well known for showing off a bunch of knives then pasting the thread to the exchange immediately.

Craftsmen have been given allowances to show their work, not sell their work, in the discussion forums as long as it pertained to the theme of the sub forum. In other words show a Busse sheath here, a Chris Reeve sheath on his forum etc etc.

but members without the proper membership are not encouraged to pawn their wares anywhere, no web site addys, no pricing, nothing beyond saying "lookie what I made, whatcha think?"

More thoughts when I wake up in the morn and get my coffee injection. :p

As usual, really great work. Did you ever finish that horse stall mat scrapizashi? My search no workee today.

jody

I haven't finished that one yet. I need to work on it I just hate the horse stall mat. Its ugly and gets everywhere and is no fun to work with.

It is very frustrating how much that stuff will crumble when worked a lot. The mats at the horse barn are horrible at doing that, they'll keep crumbling till they're gone. We think its a conspiracy to keep them in business. :p

gorgeous  I kinda liked the stinger, but that does look way more practical. awesome work

Dang! It's nice to read a thread where the differing views are written by grown-ups. Congratulations to all.

And to the original poster, I admire the purpose of the sale as well as the knife. Very generous.
