Hi Mark. Elk was the trademark of the Premier cutlery co from NY, an importer with offices in Toronto. The NY office imported from Germany and Japan from 1921 to 1955 using the Elk mark. Very nice bone on that one. Don't think i've seen a premier with bone scales before.
Best regards
Robin
Hi Robin.
Thank you for the correct information bro. I knew there was a connection to Canada somehow in the history of Elk Cutlery. Do you have a Goins book?
I am embarrassed to say, I am currently Canadian-Knife challenged. Until recently I had one of these - great knife! But I gave it away.
I'll have to get another!

And my friend Old Bowie on here now owns this one in his Premier collection!

Like many Premiers, it was made in Germany on contract.
Premier knives made in Germany, England, Italy and a few other countries. Retailed mostly in local hardware stores throughout Canada with the main wholesale office in Toronto starting around 1910.
Just to introduce myself I am Rick and I have the honour of being one of Charlie's collector/picker friends. He got me addicted to this stuff. Hes a great guy as are all you traditonal collectors of sharp and pointy things. Happy Canada Day and a gr8 Fourth of July to all our friends south of the border.
Happy Canada Day everyone. A selection of Canadian-related knives to celebrate the day.

Some day I will figure out who made that Hudson's Bay HJ, for sure, Robin. I'm pretty sure it is German - but it is not marked so.
Pipeman: Do you have any idea which Canadian agency issued these knives and for what purpose? I am just curious.![]()
