Hello everyone, I thought I'd post a few pics of a very rare Al Mar, then again you might all have one or two lying in the back of a drawer..... This is the sharpest knife I've ever come across.

Cool looking knife. Can you tell us more about it? What model is it? When was it made? What makes it rare?

Also what's the story behind how you came to have it? Everyone likes knife stories :)

Edit: ok I am assuming it's called the Eskimo.
Also what's the sheath made from? ?

Looks like a classic Loveless design. Very nice. It could do without the writing on the blade, but that's just nitpicking.

Hi, I was hoping someone could tell me something about it! I think the sheath is seal fur, it's incredibly thick leather , even for an al mar.
It's part of a large collection which I bought at an auction, it belonged to a former British Commando, some of the knives have his regiment badge attached to the sheath. I'm going to have to part with some of them but I'll let myself hold onto a few...
Thanks for the replies

I think it probably is rare. I think it is a discontinued post AM G.Sakai model but never seen one with that fur cover on the sheath
and "eskimo" on the blade. They came with black leather sheaths that were shaped exactly like that one, less the fur.
Only details I could find were an overall length of 10.23", blade length of 4.72" and weight of 6.52 oz. Handle is micarta.
Blade steel unknown.
