A Very Special Christmas BK2

Dare I use the knife?? I guess I will, gently; if I have some rough work to do I'll find another blade...

Col Defender,

With all due respect sir, you should use that knife in the same manner your son served.
Dedicated and up to the task each time he was called upon.

Humbly and Respectful,
Pete

As a father I can't imagine how hard that was. Without heroes like your son our country wouldn't exist.

All the best.

Thanks for that thought Pete; I am still considering the whole thing. Psyop suggests I get a BK10, put the grips on it and use the BK2 like most of us do. A good idea perhaps, but then I also thought of ordering another BK2 myself as a "user" and take the gift knife and display it in its entirety somewhere around the house...just don't know for sure. Hopefully I will figure it all out pretty soon.

Again thanks for your perspective.

Steve

Col,
Since the Grips hold your son's memory, might you be amiable to accepting a set of Camillus Micarta slabs as a gift.

I put them on a Safe Queen Tac Tool, that I bought from Mike Stewart.

My father ended WWII in Berlin and then answered the call again for Korea...Service needs to be memorialized

Respectfully,
Pete

Use that thing man, I can make more.
It was a pleasure getting to take part in this project.

Thanks and remembrance just never seem to be enough in these moments..... I hope you have great New Year and that we as a people can honor such a selfless heritage. "These are the men that lay the proud foundation of tomorrow".

Dad do what you want with the knife, that being said I think you should use it. You have things in the house to remind you of him. I wanted you to have something you could take with you, hunting camping whatever. You have plenty of guns, knives and tools that get used a lot and are in great shape. I think it will be fine to use and have LOTS of life left when its time to pass it on. Just my opinion.

Colonel, I'm sorry for the loss of your son, I can't imagine the pain, nor would I want to.

I am grateful for yours and yours son's service and sacrifice. Very much so.

Its a beautiful knife.

Those are some beautiful handles in so many different ways...cherish that blade, and use it, hard..
Prayers and smoke for you and your family.

Awesome!!! I really am speechless as what to add if anything.

Awesome!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Pete - you are too generous. I think I have a plan now to swap some grips around which will let me use the knife but keep the ACU pattern grips on a knife which will be displayed here but not used. You and your father have my greatest respect. WWII and Korea both - wow.

Thanks

Steve

Wow, now that's a gift given with real thought and a very deep meaning. I saw the post your son made alluding to this in OF's thread but I had no idea.

I'd like to express a sincere gratitude to you and your family for the sacrifices you've made on behalf of others in the service of our country.

My prayers go out to you on the loss of your son. Be at peace knowing he is a true hero and that your familys and his sacrifice will not be forgotten.. Use the knife and know that a part of your sons spirit is with you and enjoying the things you do. As a soldier it is always sad to hear of a brother passing to the other side but their honor and deeds give us all an exaple to live up to.

I got my set today and put them on my BK10 here are a few pics.

Thanks again Oregon.

Thank you for your service and sacrifices made by you and your family. My family appreciates the freedoms you afforded us.

The customs scales are pretty dang awesome. I am sure will you treasure them and pass them down.

Haven't choked up in a long time, but I am as I type this. Sorry for your loss, Col. and Psyop. Your son and brother was what makes America what it is: the best country in the world. The grips are a great idea. Well done Oregon and Psyop.

Thank you everyone. Its good to know that my brother will be remembered, not by just our family but by all our brothers in arms and many true patriots who appreciate his sacrifice.

Sir, thank you for your service, the service of your son, and the sacrifice your family has made to give me my freedom that I so often take for granted.

Not to sound like a wuss, but the loss of your son, and the scales from his suit almost brought tears to my eyes.

Thank you,
Cole
