A Very Special Fiddleback On Tap Saturday For Me

Brian,

You are a good man. I spent the past 22 years working with kids in and out of classrooms, and I'm still humbled by the things my former students say. We don't have a clue as to the difference we make sometimes. And what you are doing there is life changing in so many ways.

What I would give to spend time walking the woods with you.

Thanks Tony. It is something I enjoy doing very much, and were I financially independent I would do it for free. Sadly I am not and with my work load it gets complex sorting things out. I am glad I seem to have found a niche to be able to do this sort of thing with, and who seems to need me. That is a good feeling that makes the complications worth while.

Awesome post Mist!
Great to see kids outside learning with an interest.
Well Done!

I began teaching in an Environmental Education center in Virginia. All day with 6th-8th graders. My mentor there was an old woodsman. He lived in a trailer on the property, and after work would roam the forests usually until well after dark. He taught me more about trees in particular - he was skilled enough to be able to identify tree species with his eyes closed, by the feel of their bark. Man, those were some days.

Anyway, I understand the complication thing.

Keep up the great service. I'd say work...but it is so much more than that.

Thanks Tony. It is definitely a labor of love.

People who can teach and inspire are a unique breed, and most simply don't fit the standard misconception about teachers. Life is about balance, not consumption, and your essays impart the theme.

Thank you. I had several good inspirations in my early life.

I think maybe I did pretty well. Lol he has been snapping pics of various plants he is finding on outings and doing research, and he had his mom call me to make sure we are still on for next week after they get back from vacation. He was excited when his mom showed him the pics I texted her of the materials I am gathering for the next lessons. That makes for a good feeling.

Lol, because it's always a work day and I don't want to have to dodge any stray garbage cans. ;) I'm getting too old for that sort of thing :D

Actually Andy and I have discussed it, and I am planning on something along these lines for Trackrock if you guys have the time for it.

heck yea

I will have what examples I can find and bring, and I will look on site there as well.

For the slide show I still need to come up with a projector or possibly a monitor capable large screen TV I have an HDMI cord, but I always have it with me on my lap top and on a thumb drive when I am down. We are still trying to sort out a day for it. With the holidays coming up that could be a bit rough, but maybe in late winter in time for spring.
