If I have posted this in the wrong place I won't be offended if it gets moved but I thought it might provide a bit of a laugh. This really happened to me this week:
I listed a knife on ebay. It was an RD7 - never used, mint condition, lots of pics included in the listing. The price was below the general asking price.
The item sold. The buyer paid immediately. I posted it the next day, with full tracking on the package and could see that it was delivered. What could possibly go wrong?
I received this message from the buyer:
"I bought an Ontario ranger Rd7 and u sent a Becker BK9.
I can sent it back collect postage???
Now I knew what I posted. I didn't even have a BK9. A buyer with mental health issues perhaps?
His message had not been aggressive so I decided to respond in kind with an attempt at clarification. I sent this:
"Not sure what you mean. The knife I sent was the rd7 as per the photos in the listing. I have never had a BK9. Is the knife you have different than the one in the listing pics?"
A little later the same day I receive this response from the buyer:
"When I opened the pack it was a BK9, but I have just found out that my son and his mate have played a joke on poor old dad, by replacing the knife in the pack with one I already have and carefully resealing it. Hence my dilemma. Yes they got me good. Sorry to bother you. I have the RD 7 and it's a beauty. I will put you on fav sellers if you get any more knives. Thanks again."
Mystery solved. I bet there was an interesting conversation in that house later that day. I had a good laugh afterwards and was glad that neither of us had escalated it into something unpleasant.
