Here's a video of a little bit of grinding on my automatic surface grinder, which I recently installed in the shop. Thought it might be entertaining. There's a bit of detail as far as operations, which I added since manuals for this machine do not exist online.

That thing is a beast!
Really cool seeing older tools still doing their thing. Nice work!

That is a great deal you got, dress and balance that wheel and the flats will be amazing, your so lucky you have an automatic feed, my surface grinder is a huge chunk of crap, its had all the auto functions striped of it, I'm a lot jealous of yours

That grinder looks like it ate my B&S 6x18! I can't help but wonder how long it took you to figure out its operation!

The chuck on it right now is a 6x18, I'll keep an eye out for a used fine pole 8x24 but that sounds expensive.
It did take me a little while to figure some things out. The main trouble I had was that originally I wired it to run the wrong direction- so the auto feed didn't really work. I was concerned until I found that Michael Pikula has the same grinder, has the same problem, and figured it out over on bladesmith's forum. Wired it to run toward the big guard (duh) and it all began to work fine!

That's a very cool machine. You must have had some experience to master the thing...it looks very complex. Larry
