A video of the new DPx H•E•S•T

That guy sounds like he was hugging a bottle of Wild Turkey as he was waiting for the UPS man to come. He also isn't a mathematician.

Cool knife minus the graphics.

Got mine yesterday, 1st impression is lockup is tight, no blade play, shaving sharp, smooth action, excellent fit & finish.
I have had several Striders & Hinderer knives and would say this is better finish wise than the striders and a hair less than a hinderer. The LE editions are only $250 so about half the price of a Strider with better quality.
Time will tell if this is a long lasting knife, but so far I am very happy with it.

Well I just found out that an issue has been brought to light with the blade tip. Apparently it is slightly exposed when in the closed position. It is very slight but could still be an issue. Only time and use will tell I guess.

The up-shot is that the manufacturer has proposed a fix free of charge to the customers so hopefully that will take care of it. If it does I'll be satisfied.

I like the overall design of this folder, I could possibly get along with the bottle opener as it serves the wave function for faster blade deployment. I really like the glass/skull breaker, the 1/4" bit holder and the beautiful key wrench/tool that comes with the knife.
I guess the only thing that prevents me from getting it is that nasty notch by the cutting edge next to the hadle. I guess it's designed as a sharpening choil but in my opinion it would grab and hook when cutting things like paper, cardboard, fabric etc.
Spyderco Leaf would have same problem looking at the design that I totally like except the stupid deep gap between edge and handle.

Guess you are not very bright yourself if you can’t distinguish between intoxication and the obvious illness.

I like the overall shape of the knife and don't mind D2. The sharpening choil/wire stripper-like thing bothered me too. the bottle opener MAY function as a wave, how well is yet to be seen. The design of the knife is a pretty common one to my eyes, pretty plain-jane. I like plain though. I am not a fan of funky, gaudy curves that don't serve any real purpose. I still can't figure out how this knife is more suited to a hostile environment than an Endura or Griptilian though.

The "hard use" and "hostile environment" BS seems like just that...marketing hype and I'm not really a fan of logos splattered all over my knives. I don't mind coatings especially on blades more prone to rust but it is just that- a blade, not a billboard. I never got the whole skull beads and skull logos and skull designs on knives in the first place either.

I'm actually glad it's one illness and not the alternative, because I would then have to question the wisdom of him possessing any knives. But I watched another video of his where he twirled what looked like an ESEE machete with the obvious finesse of someone who had done it a million times and I could sleep easy knowing that nobody will be missing their own body parts anytime soon:thumbup:.

But back on topic. I find this knife would be an excellent addition to the arsenal for the coming zombie apocalypse:thumbup:, or something nice to take for camping. Just might need to oil the blade if you ever plan on cutting yourself an apple for a snack.

Enough of the childish antics. Discuss the knife not each other.
