A Vintage Hawkbill Pocket Knife With Weak Snap - Repairable?

Mineral oil is fully volatile. It evaporates without residue. That makes it a good cleaner & short term lubricant, but a terrible protector for long term storage.

The short-term lubrication is the only real purpose, for a food knife. No risk of petroleum-based lubricants mixing with foods.

Then again, I've cut up any number of meals with my big Case stockman, and the oil hasn't killed me yet...
