I’ve been lurking in the forums for a while looking to find my second custom fixed blade. I noticed there have been good things posted about Eddie White’s products being a great value.

From the Shadowknives website I discovered Eddie is a local South Carolina boy. I just happened to be near his shop this week with my job, so I called him up and asked if I could come by and see his work. It turns out we actually grew up in the same home town. Very Cool. Talking with Eddie you can tell he loves making knives.

Eddie was kind enough to allow me to come to his home / shop to take a look at the finished knifes he was planning on bringing to a show this weekend. On the table were several examples of each type of knife he makes. There was a huge selection of different handle materials and colors (micarta, stag, bone and wood). It was like being in a candy store. You can tell the care and time that Eddie puts into each knife. I think I handled every knife on the table, narrowing down my favorites to three Model IX knives; a stag, G10 and an extra small Brazilian wood.

The one that won me over was the small Model IX Brazilian. This is the same one that has been listed for sale on the forum. The pictures do not do it justice. The handle contours fit my hand like a glove and the file work on the grooves are located exactly where I place my thumb for control. The wood has a caramel color with black grain stripes. The pins and lanyard tube are brass. It came with a black custom leather sheath with a metal belt clip. This allows for many carry options. It’s also very light and I will have no problem using it as an EDC capable of any cutting task I throw at it. Did I mention it is razor sharp? I originally thought I would be purchasing a large knife but this little baby won me over.

Eddie let me see his shop and gave me an overview of how his knives are made, walking me through each step. Fascinating stuff, he really is an Artisan with a wealth of knife making knowledge.

If anyone is looking for a great user at a great price, give Shadowknives a chance.

I’m already thinking of how exactly I want Eddie to make my next knife. I think I may end up wanting a regular Model IX with “Clemson Orange” G10 scales. The one I handled that day just felt so right.

Thanks Eddie for taking the time to welcome me to the shop and spending time educating me. You were very kind to do that for a stranger. I absolutely love my knife. I can’t stop holding it. It feels like an extension of my hand and cuts like a dream. The quality of your work is amazing.

Thanks Again,

Jerry

Great review. I just received my original model number IX from Eddie in the mail today. It is a very nice knife and I have no doubt that I will be adding more Shadow Knives to my collection.

BTW my knife just happens to have “Clemson Orange” G10 scales. I wonder if it was my knife you fondled?

I am in Texas, so guilty as charged.

I think the Clemson Orange (btw I prefer to think of it as Volunteer Orange) is beautiful. I like the color because it will be easy to see if ever dropped while skinning a deer or elk in the fall.

No need for a sad face or to be sorry, I am glad you got to fondle it and see how nice it is.

My small version IX with smooth bone handle sits on the stand by my bed when it isn't on my belt or just dropped into a pocket, sheath and all.

Very cool that you got to meet Eddie and tour his shop. I've only heard great things about him. Even though we only emailed the emails showed a personality and a sense of just a great guy to deal with. I'm looking forward to another knife or two from Eddie over the next year.

I've talked to him on the phone and over emails - Its great to find someone who truly loves what they do and genuinely wants to please you as a customer!! Eddie is a great guy and has a customer for life in me.
