Photos A Walk in Nature

My daughter on her first charter boat deep sea fishing trip:

The hospital that she works at (in the ER) put the trip together. Wasn't till everyone was aboard and she realized she was the only woman signed up:

Here's the knives:

Her filets made some wonderful fish tacos. Her husband says he's taking his dad and me out for Father's Day. We went out a little farther north than she did. It worked out ok too:

Fishing at 380 ft deep. These guys came up on the same drop since we were fishing with two shrimp flys. Hauling these guys in from that deep, at the same time, was a workout:

And the knives:

Went with fish curry this time!
Looks like some great fishing.

That sure looks like a lot of fun  !!!

When we visited Prince Edward Island I noticed signs on some of the picturesque fishing harbours advertising fishing trips ( fisherman that have a side gig to make extra $).
I called a few of the numbers but had no luck. It was lobster season and all the fisherman were very busy trying to wrap it up before moving on to fishing out in open sea for cod, halibut etc at which time they do offer the trips.

Here is picture we took of a pretty little fishing harbour and village

I did get to buy local smoked fish which was delicious 😋

Riding big country:
Freedom ! :)
That is as close to my ideal place to live and lifestyle as it could ever be !
The terrain reminds me of the "Sierras de Córdoba" in Argentina where I spent some of my growing up years (roaming rather freely around the countryside).

Just a short walk this morning:
Thank for sharing Tom :)
The weather is turning rather quickly around here, hope you get a few more weeks of nice temps.
Did you get to pick up any of the wild fruits this year that their name escapes me right now :)

bicycling into a stand of birch - Autumn colors have finally arrived here
Beautiful colours James !
Looks like you enjoyed a relaxing afternoon out in the trail.

For a great number of folks autumn is their favourite season. I love it too ... I just have to stop thinking about what comes after 😀

Diana and I also took a short walk this evening.
We felt so much better after :)

Pawpaws! And yes!

I discovered this year that you can pick them when they are just a little underripe, and they will ripen up nicely in a few days at home. They can still be hard to find in that state, most being either hard as rocks or complete mush, but it did mean I got to eat more of them this year.

I have a 2-night bike trip along the canal planned for next Sunday-Tuesday, upstream from where I ended my last trip. They are calling for temps near freezing at night, but the days should be nice.

Lovely, artful presentation Frank. Your walking stick looks great too. Now, you need to walk about with it and come back to post those "walks in nature" for us. Don't forget to include a knife in your perambulations photos. :)

A Simple Saunter is all I ask.
Go full-screen, turn your sound on, and watch for the Buck.
A slideshow presentation.

Enjoyed the video Frank  Thanks for sharing
Your Buck folder got a workout too :)

I checked the canoe video on your channel and gave it a
I smiled at the "Social is fine ... Solo is mine..." caption. I've taken several solo boating trips myself too.

Nice work on the walking stick
It brought memories of a birch one I made when our daughters were young.
We had gone on a bicycle ride and I brought a little saw with me. I cut a small birch sapling and on our ride back my 5 year old, riding right beside me commented " "You should not destroy nature"(or very similar words)
I was like "OUCH KIDDO" She is 17 now and has not changed ...she still speaks her mind :D

The stick in question which I treasure to this day

Thanks Dan. Nice stick - great backstory. Gotta love the brutal honesty of young children.

Trail time with a couple of good friends... Moxie & Buck.

One is a Trek, the other is a Trekker. I'm sure you can you pick out which is which.

SwissBuck Trekker - by Wenger - Circa 1992-1998 - 85mm - 3 Layer

With the wind gusting to 55 MPH on this day, it was brutal when I got out in the open. I actually enjoy riding through the woods much better anyway, wind or no wind.

I fished this new one out of the bay a few years back, and after removing it from its original blister pack, it found a home in the bike bag. It has resided there since.

Following a heart attack (with stents) in September of 2021, I got mighty tired of doing cardiac rehab indoors, on a treadmill, over the winter. So, 6-1/2 miles up & down hills to the river bottom provides a good cardio-pulmonary workout, what with dragging an extra 50 pounds back there. The rise out of the river bottom is a challenge as well, so the workout is well rounded. Forget about chair squats, log squats are the activity of the day here.

And of course, the Trekker always accompanies on these outings as well. However, that trail obstruction might be out of range for this saw blade.

One week after this photo was taken, the water was four feet higher in this spot. So much for log squats here anymore.
About a month later, DirtDawg would head on down the trail to the other side. This was our last trail ride together. I miss my little trail buddy.
