I went for a little hike yesterday afternoon. It was a walk through a mix of hardwoods and some dirt roads.

The storm yesterday brought down several trees.

After the hard rains we had yesterday there were a lot of tracks. I saw some coyote tracks, some squirrel tracks, some coon tracks I think, but I am pretty sure I found some bobcat tracks.

Then as I crossed a field a Blackhawk medi-vac flew over.

But soon the sun was getting low and it was time to head back

I haven't seen a bobcat in a long time. Of course, they are very rarely to be seen where I live.

I really like the pics of the Blackhawk. Reminds me of my grandpa for some reason. :)

Mist, this area looks exactly like some areas on our farm when we were growing up as youngsters. My brothers & I used to spend countless hours getting lost in there & trying to find our way home before dark. You brought back some great memories tonight, great shots once again. Is this area on your property or close by, camping, fires, shooting, etc. ? Looks like a neat place to just unwind & lower the blood pressure before heading home from the daily grind.
Thanks for letting us tag along again.
Be safe.

Always love looking at your photo threads. I need to get a camera and start taking pictures when out on walks.

Thanks guys, glad you liked the pics. Bobcats aren't as common as they once were. I still see them when I am driving through the mountains and down the dirt roads but never when I am on foot anymore. Then again I don't live in the woods as I once did either.

There are 26,000 acres there, not my land it's a wildlife management area about a 20 minute drive from my house.

And yes Dennis, I am very glad. The expense of film developing was one reason I got out of photography for some years.

I'll say this for your bobcat--to leave that many deep impressions, he was a pretty heavy fella.

Thanks for taking the time to share the pics

Blackhawks are an amazing tool; always nice to see 'em show up for rescue/hoist ops (means a LOT less work doing a pack-out)!

More and more intrigued by the Izula - how do you like it?

Maybe, he was walking on fresh mud too though...

Yeah, we're on a major flight path here so I see a lot of them. They sound completely different than Hueys.

I really like the Izula, I really beat the crap out of my first one. This one has only done some cutting and whittling so it still looks pretty new. They are awesome little knives.

Here kitty, kitty, kitty..... :)

If you scroll down fast enough you can see the helicopter fly;) reminds me of the flip clips, you know the books you flip into action..:D

Thanks for the post Brian, every time I open your posts it makes me want to go cut something and take a pic of it:D, which I haven't had the chance to do in about a month now..

soon, very soon.....

take care,

Rob

Love animal track shots as well as the wildlife themselves.
Series of footprints makes me think about the one who left the track, what did he do
or where did he go, for what purpose and so on..

Thanks for posting great thread as usual, mistwalker.

Maybe, he was walking on fresh mud too though...

I assume so--just that there are a lot of tracks, quite deep. If the mud was too squishy, they would have closed in on themselves and had irregular edges from the...whattaya call that with mud...vaccuum...anyway, the suction of lifting the foot out.

I didn't see that there; although the tracks were more than a couple days old, they were pretty solidly packed and well formed. That suggests weight to me.
