I am not currently in the market for a watch, but I will be soon. I have been mulling over what I want for some time, and would like some suggestions.

My specifications:
1. Light
2. Comfortable
3. No plastic.
4. Thin!
6. No fancy features, I just want to know what time it is. Second hand is optional.
7. non digital
8. No numbers, lines are clean.
9. Preferably less than a couple hundred dollars
10. Reliable and accurate.
11. Simple uncluttered look.

I know there has to be just what I am looking for out there somewhere.

always liked that look

OTOH, go with Skagen. Is water resistance important to you?

I would suggest looking in to the Citzen eco drive line or somthing from Seiko Kinetic. All the accuracy of quartz no worry about changing batteries. They are available in tons of different styles from simple to overly complex. You can also find them in titanium for light weight. Plus both companies mak very good products for the money they are hard to beat for the price.

At 12mm+, they are twice as thick as I am looking for. Or are there thin versions?

WHOA! If you're looking for a 6mm thick watch I believe your choices are limited, especially if you want decent water resistance (those seals and crowns take up SOME space). Even that Skagen is 8 mm thick. I think it's all but impossible to find an automatic in that size, due to space requirements for the selfwinding mechanism. I was going to suggest the Oceanus line by Casio, even though most of them have more "gadgets" than what you are looking for they have several advantages:

Solar powered
Atomic Time= Perfect accuracy
Light, available in Ti
Durable and "reasonably priced"

I've had one for several month now since my Rolexes are in "semi-retired status" because they are just too damn expensive to wear while working out.

I did find 1 6 mm Skagen...just 1.

After searching the internet I found some other watches that were that thin, including a Steinhausen for $150 at Hammacher-Schlemmer. There were, much to my chagrin some 2mm thick watches...but I believe they would be out of the price range.:foot:

This is a great thread. I'm in the market as well and getting a lot of great ideas here.

Well, I am setting my goal at 6 but 8mm seems to be more prevalent. As long as I can avoid having a can of tuna strapped to my wrist, I will be happy. I am taking a look at all watches suggested. I don't need 100 Meter waterproof, since I don't dive. even 30 ft would be overkill. I think a maximum of 9-10mm though.

RF, in all honesty the Skagen is a good watch for the sub-$100 range. The only bad part is how easily Ti shows scuffs and scratches.

Easily fixed though. You can get a gray 3M ScotchBrite pad and restore the brushed Ti look very easily.
