I have been a fan of
waynorth
knives since I dove into (or back into) traditional knives. I saw
@eschwebach post a Sheepfoot TC barlow and was amazed at how much it spoke to me. Since then I've really leaned into my love for traditional slipjoints, and meanwhile always enjoyed Charlie's knives. I was very happy to see that Charlie created his own branding under his username in the Waynorth knives, especially those with his own stamping in the Lambfoot and Blackjack. Then I was sad to hear that (supposedly) GEC was no longer doing SFOs... what would happen to Waynorth? Especially with the cost of creating dies and such.
So I was happy to see Charlie was getting an SFO version of the new (and much anticipated) #35 Johnny on the Spot camp knife. I have one of Charlie's SFO Texas Camp Knives. I've carried and used and loved it for years, including on lots of camping, floating, and hunting trips (like the moose float hunt on which the included picture was taken). I go through spells of selling off knives and then regretting it, and in part to stop that I had the (massive) shield engraved with my initials.
I was surprised and thrilled when I received a package in the mail from the man in the north himself! A beautiful example of the Wiki Ute that I put straight into my pocket. It goes great with the Texas Camp Knife... but is a little easier to carry. This knife really means a lot to me and I plan to have it engraved also (though it might be a bit more difficult with the normal sized shield). It'll lose its etch with use but I'll always know that it is a gift from one of the traditional knife greats, Waynorth!
Thanks so much Charlie! I meant to post this earlier but having a baby and buying a house got in the way haha
