A well said defense of Buck knives.

wish truck payments were only in the 500 range still..........
paid mine off this month... i dont even know what the payment was, but i was sending them 300 a month and eating principle... just a small used nissan... its been hit and sent to the body shop twice and is still running well... need to buy something new soon and am dreading it... heard the truck market has been tanking as of late though...lots on the lots...🤔

Count me in the "I didn't know they needed defending" camp. Buck makes a historical knife that had a tremendous impact on the folding knife scene, to the point that its flagship folding knife spawned countless imitators, and coined the term "Buck knife" into public lexicon. Buck is a part of the history of this hobby we enjoy, and always will be.

Being as dependable trucks got added to the dependable Buck Knife thread. First new truck I ever bought (all the prior ones I bought used). Me & the 2019 F150 pickup truck 5-1/2 years ago on the day I bought it for $34K at the local Ford dealer (nice discount off the $45K sticker price). Big discount because it was 2WD (nobody wanted it, they wanted 4WD - it sat on the lot six months), standard V-6 (buyers wanted a turbo-charged V-6 or a V-8), 6 speed automatic transmission (everyone wanted the hot new 10 speed). Being as turbo-chargers get used up and are EXPENSIVE to replace and those early 10 speeds are giving some folks fits after 60K miles, I figure if I perform the required and any needed maintenance this truck should outlast me (I'm 69). Also pictured are the two Buck Knives that reside in the truck's console, they are so dependable the need to defend has already been debunked in this thread. My truck and my Buck's - good outdoor partners. OH

Well said.

If you find it, post it here - I’d like to read it (and vote!). Thanks, OH
It's in General Knife Discussion.
On page 2 , "round 2 poll.......".
My VCR still blinks 12:00, so doing a link is outta my wheel house.😉

I think most Buck fans simply hang out here, so the vote is probably skewed against Buck for that reason, being unaware of the poll.

Thread 'Round 2 Poll, You can only own 1 maker/manufacturer for life.' https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...ly-own-1-maker-manufacturer-for-life.2026880/

Thank, GPyro GPyro ! Polls close later today. Buck is a distant third. I cast my vote!
I have cast my vote.

Drawing my own conclusions from the pole, I suspect most respondents are younger city dwellers.
I'm not terribly familiar with Chris Reves (Superman?), but don't know them as hunting or fishing knives and Spyderco would be a distant 3rd or 4th for hunting, fishing, farming, or rural use.
Now if I was a full time city folk with no aspirations for clean and and muddy boots, Microtech would be my first choice.
But as it is, I live in unincorporated county in a 200 year old log cabin, own a business on the edge of the city, and a 100+ acre farm out in the sticks. I've woken in my home, started the day in my office, and picked veggies on my farm in a single day. I've even woke in my KY home, started early in my office in Cincinnati, and drove to the MO boot heel for duck hunting in a single day.
Buck has a good tool for each of those things, so if it's a single brand, it's Buck for me.
