So... I've got a whole lot of grinder now. More than I'll probably ever need in fact.

I just got back from the garage where I finished re-wiring my 220 outlet for the VFD that I just picked up, along with the second KMG.

So yeah... I've now got 2 KMGs, and quite a few attachments.

2x platen, 4 inch wheel, serrated bader 3 inch, 4 inch and 8 inch wheels, small wheel attachment with 5/8" roller, and the tool rest...

I guess with a 1.5hp 3 speed KMG and a 2HP VS KMG i'm ready for any occasion... now i just need to start making more stuff! I should get spike mangler and Paul L. over to my shop to show me how to grind better... and i'll try to teach them how to forge =D.

nice! I'm jealous

Just out of curiosity why did you decide to get another one instead of retrofitting the other one with the vfd setup? I'm assuming so you save time and don't have to switch back and forth between tooling arms?

Wasn't so much a decision to get a 2nd instead of getting a motor and VFD as it was the 2nd one being put up for sale, with VFD, 2hp motor, contact wheels, etc for darned near close tot he price it would have been for just a new VFD and motor.

That actually makes more sense than what I was thinking.

The better answer is, why not? ;) You can never have too many grinders!

I too am jealous...very nice rigs.

I like the 2 grinders idea; and go along with a better workbench. I'd like to see a backstop and dust collector? Semper Fi

I've had two grinders which I put vfd on a few years back. They are a very good machine made in Canada by a company called Bee. They are much like the Wiltons were. I bought one and built the other. I have one set up with a 10" wheel and the other with a flat platen. I certainly appreciate having them. Frank

Frank your so so right Ide like one with the flat platten and one with my 10 inch contct wheel so you dont have to change anything over but belts. Good score Justin

Wow, having 2 grinders really DOES save a lot of time. I was finishing a handle yesterday, and i kept the VS one with my slackbelt, and the other at the slow speed with the small wheel attachment... and it saved me probably an hour or so in finishing the handle i was working on. I think i'm going to really like this =D

Cant say I care too much for the handle material, but it was provided for me by the person getting the knife.

If you were to add a 6" drive wheel to that 2hp set up you would add a whole lot of speed; if your not getting enough speed with the variable set up you are running.

I use a three pulley KMG driven by a 3hp 1725 motor with a 6 inch drive wheel. It runs 5400 sfm which the ceramic belts really enjoy.

Two grinders is a real plus in any shop.
