A WIP Dagger, with VIDEO

This is one very extensive and informative WIP Stephan! Thanks for taking the time and effort to show us how its done. I'm glad you left the part in where the quench oil flashed, it shows some of the newer guys the possible dangers involved in making a blade (and the quick way to trim the hair off your knuckles :D )

I'll be following this thread closely, can't wait to see the finished blade. I know that hamon is gonna be killer!

Thanks again,

Brad

This has been fun to watch. Really looking forward to seeing that hamon come out

Here I've got the blade ground down to it's final shape with a temp hickory handle

I go through a bunch of edge testing

Manila Rope
2x4
Dried Bamboo
Leather
Cardboard
MDF
and a bunch of paper to show that it's still sharp

also you get a nifty peek at the Hamon which I am particularly impressed with so far.

Ya ever here that one about "learning something every day"?

That golfball file handle is awesome! I was just cussing the other day when I went to pick up another file and the store didn't sell handles. Heck, Lowe's only sells the Husky line of files that take a special "quick change" Husky handle that happens to cost TEN dollars all by itself!

There I was with a handful of files that didn't have handles, and I was miffed. No a real big deal because I could haft them with some broom handle and smooth them down with my new 2x72 grinder (yea, me), but it's still a pain that I shouldn't have to do.

But, I run into lost golf balls all day! I bet they'd be super comfy for needle files!!

Great vids, hoss, and I really appreciate you teaching me a few things. You made my day.
