A.Wright and Son Question

If you are willing to pay a premium and are willing to have a stainless steel blade, I would look at Taylor's Eye Witness.
I did and it is well worth the money .

And I did not have to put up with Gaps , Not Centered , Dirty , Rough Opening , Burrs , and had no one check it out before I bought it in 2016 and got delivery in 2017 .

Two other options:

1. buy a GEC navy knife and grind it (or have @traumkommode grind it for you) into a lambsfoot.

2. order a custom made one from Willem O’Kelly (K’roo knives) for about the same or less than a secondary market price of the GEC 93 and get it to your exact specifications.

Your’s is certainly beautiful, Harry. It’s my understanding that the Taylors like yours, with the hand chiseled spring decorations, are built by more experienced cutlers, even those not directly employed by the company. No guarantee, but more likely to be a cut above the regular production.

You are probably correct . I did pay extra for the Worked Back . Thank you very much for the kind words Harvey .

Yes, I believe Russell White is making them for Taylor's again

What is the easiest/best way to track down the Taylor's people? Also, I cannot find any price ranges on their site.

......wow, if that's the case, brilliant. I heard only very recently that he hadn't gone back to work though he keeps threatening to..!

It would be great if he did - I have two wonderful TEW of his, and one of his own - the world needs more of Russell White :)

I have three examples of A. Wright and Son knives. The ebony and rosewood ones are OK, but the fit and finish is pretty mediocre. The red bone knife is laughable. The bone is poorly jigged and deeply scratched on one side. The carved back spring is nice. The knife might be ok after replacing the bone. The overall style of the knives is attractive, but I can't get around the gaps, uneven bolsters and other issues. I do not think they will be in my possession for long.

It was actually Michael Harrison, who now owns Wright"s, who told me, so I hope it's accurate, but I really don't know Paul, I've never had any direct contact with Russell

I am considering purchasing an A . Wright and Son lambfoot and was wondering what to expect for fit and finish. Not sure if it would be like case quality or more inline with gec.
Another option you may wish to look at is a Joseph Rodgers Barlow Lambfoot, Model No.-JR1500W3. I have one, it is one of my favorite little knives. It is well made, good finish and compact making it an easy carry. And can get really sharp, i am going to get another one, i like it that much. Posting a photo for you.

Thanks for the recommendation! I think I will pick one up and give it a try, I am partial to the larger bolsters of a barlow. Nice photo as well :)

I looked online, and could not find a US dealer for the Rodgers knives.... does anyone know of any? I would like to check them out.
