Just a small tribute to my Gabon Ebony Clip/Pen Barlow. Last year for my Birthday I rec'd my Barlow---it actually arrived the day of my birthday, so I knew fate played a role.
Every day, and I do mean everyday since March 23rd 2013 I have carried my cherished Barlow. I usually carry another knife of sorts but always my Barlow.
I had no plans of this being "THEE" knife but it became apparent in no time at all. I wasn't even a Barlow knife guy so the speak. Just everything about this Barlow won me over. The "worry-stone" feel of the bolsters, the oily type feel of the covers, the centered blades with no play or wiggle at all, which is still the case to this day .
I've always admired the man/men like those in Carl's story that could and did just carry one knife. Most times their whole life unless damage or loss played a role.
I knew I couldn't be that "one knife only guy" as I suffer from a knife addiction that prevents me from doing so
. But shortly after my Barlow's arrival something took hold, as I had no intention or thought in mind that this Barlow would be my everyday companion. I admire Pete with his Peanut his daughter gifted him a little over two years ago, it's been fun to watch the subtle changes occur
As it turns out today we celebrate one whole entire year together and I see no change in the near by future
.
So a haphazard pictorial of my Barlow. no time line really, I just went furthest back in my pictures to the most recent.
Have a great Sunday everyone!!!
New...
Starting to Patina...
At work in the "Topper Popper" contest
The blade etch still hangin in there...
Glamor shot
Pictured with it's rare Spear/Pen opposite nick, Gabon Ebony Brother, that now resides with Duncan
Workin in my shop...
After mowing the lawn...
A shot with the coins gifted by Jack, thank you Jack
A Summer day of leisure
Creating a Masterpiece of a walking Stick...
Another shot for the "Hat" thread...
The last shot before today's picture
And finally posing for it's one year birthday picture
Well there you go, a snapshot of a Barlow in a year of EDC carry
Now, remember the illness (knife addiction) I said I suffer from?
Well the last shot with the candle confirmed it
Have a great Sunday everyone!!!
