ive had it a few days now, and ive been carrying it as an edc.
some initial impressions:
likes:
1. probably the sharpest emerson nib ive ever received. normally i touch them up on a steel, strop or both.
2. narrow profile makes pocket carry easy.
3. clip placement. i dont care for the low rider style. i prefer some of the handle to stick out making drawing a bit easier. it sits low enough to conceal with little risk of falling out, but high enough to grab easily.
4. nice utility minded blade profile.
5. fit/finish exactly what i have come to expect from eki.
6. clean lines, simple and basic.
dislikes:
1. because the disk is so close to the scale, and is about the same thickness, opening isnt as quick as other models. i have to "find" the disc, not as instinctive as the 7 or 13.
2. gritty opening. but this has always been the case with nib emersons for me. should just need some breaking in.
3. detente is hardly noticeable.
4. not available with the wave.
overall:
well made, great edc. closed length is nearly the same as the 7, but open it is close to the 13. seems to be a lot more knife than the 7.
i think this is more of a utility than sd knife, since opening isn't nearly as easy as the other two. i am unable to thumb flick this one open, at least not w/o some applied torque from the wrist. it is also difficult to get my thumbnail in between the disc and scale.
of the three the a100 is the narrowest, and has no protrusions to hang up on a wallet, keys, etc, when in the pocket. im happy with it, and ill find a way to fit it in to the rotation.
i also suspect that it will be available in the 125.00 range once it is widely available.
