a100 first impressions

Something i never understood. Why do emersons have 2 ball detents but have the weakest hold compared to most knives?

after some breaking in, the a100 detente snaps closed like all my other emersons.

the only knives that i have found to have a regularly stronger detente are spydercos. most of mine are about the same, including sebbies and other customs i have.

in my experience, the spydies are unusual in this regard.

imho the detents in EKI's are about average, sime spydies seem a little better, but then again some spydies seem a little worse, just depends on the design i suppose, i have never had a problem with EKI's opening up in my pocket though so they must be at least "ok".

my SnG also has a strong detent.........

I really thought about getting an A-100 but the CQC-7 won out. The CG was the determining factor.

i just got the a-100 and personally love the blade simple , practical, and none of the bells and whistles just one staight up hard workin folder and the detent on my a-100 seems to be fine..........great knife once again by emerson

I've been EDCing a new A100 for a couple weeks now.

When I first got it, the liner lock didn't fully engage the tang. After a little breaking in, it does now. Also, it had some slight lateral blade play right out of the box. Did anyone else have this problem???? It was a little disappointing on that front. And the pocket clip has very little tension even when new.

Pros: The liner lock is thick and very strong. The liners are also thick, and the scales are top notch. The ergos rule. And I actually like the unconventional grind on the blade. It was razor sharp right out of the box and has retained the edge quite well.

Overall a good knife, but perhaps overpriced.

Has anyone else besides MorimotoM found the thumb disk a bit more difficult to access than some other EKI models?
Jim
