3V is tougher than A-2, no doubt, but is much more "corrosion aggressive" in my experience. In use around blood and saltwater, 3V will develop nasty looking, ddep black pitting, much worse than A-2 in my experience. Even tough A-2 is "carbon" it is 5% chrome and contains some Ni which may explain why it isn't too hard to keep from rusting. It will stain readily, but full blown rust and pits are easily avoidable, not so with 3V (even though is 7.5% Cr)
