A2 heat treating recipes.

I have used ATP-641 for A2 and agree completely with Seedy Lot. There is still a tad bit of decarb, but very thin. I think the practical upper limit of ATP-641 is A2 austenitizing temps (1750°F-1775°F) for decarb protection.

Do y'all deal with the "heat at a rate of no more than 400 degrees per hour" that i see in the data sheets? or just stick it straight in at 1425-1450?

I run the oven for an hour 100 degrees hotter than aus temp for an hour, turn it off, put the knife in there and then run it

I do the same as Seedy. Get the oven to the target temp, let it sit for a while, then insert the blade and start the soak time about 4 minutes after.
