Hello, i want to try and make a blade with A2.. but first reenforce me that this would be a good steel to be an abused camp knife, or should i use something else?, i really trust all of your opinions if it is so, my question was how to get ahold of Paul Bos? i was reccomended to him for the heattreat process. thanks.

Paul

A2 is nice, Pual Boss rules, they will probably move this to the knife maker forums and are you shure you dont want a stainless steel for abusing? High carbon tends to need to be taken better care of then a stainless.

Unless you're working in a highly corrosive environment, maintenance of carbon steel isn't difficlut. Clean it off after use, oil it from time to time -- wipe it down with an oily rag or Tuff-Cloth. That's easy enough to do, especially with a camp knife, more than with a folder.

A2 is a very good steel for large camp knives. Not hard to take care, will take a beating and hold up well.

Agreed. I have a few A2 Bark Rivers that I use in the kitchen. Like the D2 knives I also use there, no problem with rust. I wash them off, wipe them down, and put them away.

A2 steel is a real good steel and will work great for a using knife. There are steels out there you can use as well. I like using 1095-1084-52100 for my knives. To me there is no better for a using knife. I hear treat all my own steel here in my shop. But if you do not have that setup in yours. Paul Brother is one of the best out there. Also, there is a write up on Paul Brother's in Blade Magazine I just got it in the mail the other day. You may want to get that book from one the book stores in your area. Hope this was of help to you. Have a great day in what ever you do in life.-------the 2th time today---------:D
