Hey there folks!
My brother-in-law gave me a big chunk of A240, anyone know anything about it?
 
Thanks for the info!! It's 1/4 inch thick, 13 x 8 inches... I'll probably use it for guards, accents ect...
Bummer it doesn't harden... Could've made some good stuff with it!
 
A240 is a general spec. 304 is a type, along with 316, 321, 347, 410, etc

Is there another number after the 240?
 
I meant to state 300 etc.--- series of steel as that was all I could find in my stuff... which isn't blade steel... (don't tapatalk when you should be working... lol) Fixed it above...

Then I saw some 400 series stuff that is designated 240 as well... so it may be blade steel. And yes, it should have some other numbers. My apologies. I am not a stainless guy. Just had (apparently incomplete) reference material near by...
 
Kosto, I'm not sure... It's cut off where the next number would be, maybe 75? That's printed on the other side...
