A36 steel

Interesting way of doing things, but I'd prefer to use 1018 for consistency if I was going to carbonize blades. I've had hit or miss results with A36 and forge welding so I go out of my way to get 1018 for hawks and such.

A36 is actually a high strength structural steel and can be heat treated due to the high carbon level. Nothing mild about it.
