Okay so jackknife has me on a new flashlight kick to replace my photon 2. Is there any lights out there about the same size as the Fenix E01 that is better? Better meaning in burn time or output? Burn time is more important but if there's a light out there with a 20 hour burn time and 120 lumens, that'd be awesome. :D Let's say price to be under $100.

I doubt it, even with regulated light output there is only so much you can squeeze out of any AAA battery.

Look at LEDs they give good battery life with good output. The flaw to me is the color temp. I also prefer AA

I prefer AA myself but there are good AAA out there
Shotgun, I sent you an email suggestion.

I own 2 EO1's an older Arc and a Preon Revo stainless. The Revo is my favorite because of the 3 brightness level choices.Just for a good all around light though, you can't beat the EO1.

I'm really liking my 47s Preon Revo stainless. Fantastic keychain light.

take a look at the ITP A3 EOS R5 Upgraded, Low 1.8 Lumens for 50 Hours, Med 22 Lumens for 4 hours, and High 96 Lumens for 55 Min. I can hardly tell the difference between the ITP low and the E01 Constant, I like being able to have the higher levels if you need to see further for a couple minutes. Cost is $18.50 at a popular site right now. Also comes with a pocket clip and keychain/lobster claw hook. It replaced my Fenix E01 on my keys. Size is almost exact, the ITP is maybe 1/4" or less longer.

I used to have one of those ITP AAA lights, but a few months ago it snapped in half, and was fairly disappointed with that. Went back to the Arc AAA, haven't looked back since. Simple but reliable.

You can also check out a Maratac AAA. 3 output levels.

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like the E01 has the right balance of output to burn time I'm looking for. Ordering one now. Thanks for the link Esav.

Ya can't go wrong with the Fenix E01...I carry one on my keyring.:).

+ 2.
It's the only thing I use. Lights up the back fence 30 ft away. Good switch action, very smooth and reliable. Very small, goes with me everywhere. Battery life is good. Price is outstanding. Google "Maratac light" for the dealer.

the Maratac is a good light.
Very smooth operation.
What I didnt like was the cheezy pocket clip and lanyard ring.
The clip kept popping off.
Other than that,it is a good light.

I carry the Preon Titanium version.
(actually bought a second cuz I liked it so much)
Great clip,very secure.
It is a little rough on the threading (where you turn it off/on)
until you break it in.
No where near as nice as the maratac.
The light is great,long runtime.
I have it clipped in my left pocket.
Use it all the time. Its really amazing how I got
along before I started EDC'ing a light.
My eyes aint what they used to be I guess :)

Fenix LD01= 72 lumens for 1 1/2 hrs, 26 lumens for 3 hrs, or 3 lumens for 27 hrs. I have an older model and couldn't be happier with it. The different levels come in handy and it has survived living in my pocket everyday for a couple of years now without a glitch.

I liked the Maratac AAA so much I got one in AA and I hardly ever use my Nitecore D10 anymore. When my 86 year old dad used my AAA in a dark restaurant he had to have one. My youngest carried a copper AAA on her last tour in Afganistan. Did I mention I like the Maratac?

I know Shotgun has already decided on the Fenix EO1. The rest of us know that this probably won't be his last flashlight soooo...

I currently carry a Preon 1. Before that it was a Fenix LD01. Before that it was various Fenix single stage lights. Before those an ARC. Any light is better than no light. I like three stage lights and I'm more concerned with a very low low than I am about lots of lumens. My wife prefers a single stage light, and just wants it to work. Whether a Preon, Fenix or Maratac, each is an excellent choice.

One thing to consider is the clip. Make sure the clip is facing in such a way that it can be attached to the brim of a hat. The stock clip for my Preon 1 faces the wrong way. I replaced it with a correctly-facing Fenix clip.

+3 ! :D

For the price I do not think it can be beat.
mine has resided in the 'watch pocket' of my various jeans for over two years now , I use it daily in my work.

Run time is like Revdevil said , there's only so much you can squeeze.. I change batteries about once a month/every 3 weeks.. Depending.

Some more lights that you may want to consider, once you have the E01 :-)
