AAA edc light

I like three stage lights and I'm more concerned with a very low low than I am about lots of lumens. My wife prefers a single stage light, and just wants it to work. Whether a Preon, Fenix or Maratac, each is an excellent choice.

This is what I wanted for this light. I normally have a two light system when I know I need light and we'll see if this new Fenix will still perform the role of my photon. I have an EDC light that is somewhat low output(10 lumens is about perfect), with a long run time and single stage on/off function. At night or camping I carry a high output multistage handheld for self defense and throw in addition to the edc. What I like about the photon is it produced a type of flood beam so when camping I run a length of paracord through it and hang it around my neck. Not as good as a dedicated head lamp but is adequate for hands free operation. I hate headlamps.

And yep you're going to buy new flashlights from time to time. Seems every 5-10 years the technology improves enough to make an extremely noticeable difference. My mini maglite doesn't even compare to my Nightcore in any manner. IMO maglites are only good for keeping batteries waterproof.:D

I have quite a few these days. Use them just about every day for one thing or another. My latest is a Mag Lite LED XL50. I like it and will probably buy a couple more. I can't bring myself to spend $100 on a flash light no matter how good it is. I loose them working and would have a fit if I lost a $100 Sure Fire or something.

You can also check out a Maratac AAA. 3 output levels.

+ 1. I have been carrying one of these on my truck keyring in my pocket every day for almost a year and a half now and it never fails to impress everyone when I use it. It still looks great, puts out a lot of light and runs a surprisingly long time on one battery.
