? about Axis

You should have no trouble with your knife opening in your pocket. Although possible to loosen the pivot to that point, it would generally result in noticeable blade play. In other words you would be fore warned the pivot was loosening.

Hope this helps, Shane
Even a loose pivot will not cause an accidental opening. The spring pressure would still be holding the blade closed. You would have to lose the pivot pin entirely before it would allow the blade to come out of the handle, and then it would be separating completely from the handle.

The only way to get an Axis lock knife to accidentally open is to snag the thumbstud hard, and even then, the spring may well close the knife again immediately. I would consider it to be similar to a lockback in this regard.

Try clipping one to the leg pocket on a pair of cargo pants and jumping off a loading dock sometime. Just be careful when you check to see if it opened.;)

One of the very smoothest opening knives I have is a BM Rukus 610 Axis lock. It is not going to accidentally open in your pocket.

Faster than the Wave? ;)

For me, yes. With the Wave you need to pull out the knife so it catches on your pocket, generally pulling the knife out in a direction that is moving the knife away from what is infront of you. With the AXIS you can pull the knife and flick it open as you are moving the knife forward towards something infront of you. Meaning, if I was trying to quickly thrust it into someone (and I doubt I'd ever find myself in this situation) I could get my blade on target faster with my AXIS than with one of my Waved knives, but that's just me.

As far as closing, no contest. :)

Also I've been carrying my BM710 Axis for 8 years now, never had it open in my pocket and I have it in there all the time, even if I'm running and jumping around. If the blade would start to open it would hit the seam of my pocket, since I carry it in my front right pocket, tip up. The blade has to open pretty far to get passed the spring action of the AXIS lock (so that the AXIS lock wouldn't snap it closed) and I don't see that happening very easily when carried the way I carry it.
