? about S30V

I just asked a similar question in this same Spydie forum on Cowry-X and ZDP-189 ... Sal responded already:

Stuff sounds promising, although Rc65 and 20% chrome makes me want to ask some questions about toughness in use (lateral, side loads), and it would (IMO) require diamonds to sharpen I'd guess. If it's not as tough at S90V for a roughly equivalent level of edge retention, and is even more expensive, then one wonders what the value proposition is (other than exceptional resistance to edge rolling, and perhaps some points for pure strength.).
