? About steel

I work in an automotive plant where they make large truck and van frames.the coils of steel don't say what grade of steel it is (l6,w1 or 2,ect..ect...) but they come with chemical compound breakdowns.i cant remember the total compositions but most have 0.09%carbon.would this steel be good for making knives? Bc I can get as much as I want and it's flat and clean and can get it cut into whatever size I need.thanks for any input any of you all may have.

Hoss is correct, steel needs a minimum of 0.50% Carbon to make a decent knife.

Most of these are made from dual phase steels in the 700 MPa range. Steels made for weldability avoid carbides.
