i just received my d-2 millie, an awsome knife btw, and i was wondering about the backspacer. is it zytel, and also, is it the same on all millies? i haven't handled one in a long time, and i don't remember.

All three of mine are a high impact plastic of some sort, but I don't think it is FRN. Sal once said the original plan was for a glow-in-the-dark insert (tritium night-sight style) for the spacer, but that didn't work out so they switched to this one and have been using it since.

By the way, my three Militaries are a CPM D-2, a BG-42 with Carbon Fiber and an old 440V model, so they have been using that spacer for a while now.

i appreciate the info yab! the backspacer seems like the "cheapest" part of the knife. it just doesn't fit in with theoverall look, although i'm sure it's fully functional.

The backspacer should be under very little stress in the overall function of the knife so I would not worry a bout it being plastic.
