By more than 2X...

I talked Darrel Ralph today about an AXD 5.5" custom order.

This is the style he will be building for me:

But with Chad Nichols stellite core damascus for the blade, handle inlay, and full backspacer.

My previous ceiling was a $900 4" swing guard stiletto by Burn:

That is insanely sexy.

I am unfortunately maxed out on a couple benchmade balisongs currently... lol.

Im stoked for you man. congrats.

How long until you get it?

I'm hoping to send him the payment within 2 weeks. He said build time will be a month from payment.

Forgot to include in OP...

Blade will be 3/16" stock. Pocket clip holes for L/R tip up carry leaving between 1-2" of butt exposed, with a lanyard hole. Maxx Glide bearing pivot.

That stellite core Damascus should work out pretty nicely for your backyard BBQ's.
I like it. Enjoy! Life IS short...well, at least "useable" life is short...

Cool, sounds like it will be a really nice knife. At the risk of sounding stupid, why did you go with stellite as the core for the blade? Does it have specific properties you are looking for?

I've never owned anything in that material before. I liked the look of the damascus.

That is one seriously crazy insane nice looking knife, are you gonna actually use it or is it just for the collection?

I will most definitely carry and use it!

That swing guard is classic BA! You have good taste all around.

Thanks bro! Also purchasing this within 2 weeks...

Don't feel too bad, I just made my first knife preorder ever.....albeit on a much, much smaller scale :) [Kershaw Emerson CQC-3K]

That's reason enough (IMHO) to splurge. Not the nut job part, the other.

By coincidence, I got a Darrel Ralph about 16 years ago to the day to celebrate 4 months of being smoke free.

Unfortunately - mine didn't take. My mom passed away shortly after I ordered the knife and I went back to the cigarettes.
The good news is I kicked the habit for good last year.

BTW - Darrel Ralph has to be one of the three nicest guys on the planet.

I hit my personal ceiling with two XM-18's. When they didn't stay around long at all, I figured I'd find my comfort level with CRK and Strider. I'm good, but we all find our happy place.

I bought my first custom folder from DDR while i was in Iraq just over 10 years ago. Met him twice at shows. Awesome guy.
