but I can't decide if I want the reverse tanto or clip point...

it's going to be a general use EDC knife. what are the pros and cons of these two blade styles?

oh.. the blade is very very very sharp!!i hurt myself when i was trying to close the blade.... blood is everywhere... :grumpy:

clip point looks good... but.... where is the lanyard hole...

tell me how u find it.. i may get one too...

The reverse tanto is more sheeple friendly and is better for spreading peanut buter and jelly. Seriously, the reverse tanto shape is an excellent all around knife even for prepping food. The point is quite sharp and strong.

I have owned both. I didn't notice any real diference in use.
Each has it's own merits. I settled on the clip point 941 though. I just liked the looks more, plus I wanted to get the blue/black Dec. 2000 KOTM. Either one is just awesome for EDC. If I could have only one knife, 94x would be a straong contender.

Heard that a carbon-fiber handled S30V-bladed 941 (clip point)is coming out. And a 940 (reverse tanto) in D2 with carbon-fiber, too.

Don't know the pros and cons as both look equally apt for daily use.

I have both a 940 and 941. I really like the look of the reverse tanto shape. The only drawback I find with that style blade is it doesn't make opening mail as easy as a clip shape 941 or wharncliffe shape 921. The tip of the knife is too wide to easily slide under the flap of the envelope. That is the only gripe I have with it.

If there's not much practical difference, I think I'll get the clip point. Just like the look a little better...

Thanks, guys!

Aww just get both!!!!
I did and I aint sorry.
The only thing other than I like the looks better on the clippoint, the 940 knives seem to open a little easier with the extra heft at the tip to fling it open.

Sticky,

I think that a person could be happy with just one. They could be happier with the 921, but its clip chews pockets shamelessly (the flaw that keeps it from being completely perfect).

Get a 941D2CF. The D2 in the model number is self explanatory, but you should know it's flat ground and mirror polished. The CF is for Carbon Fiber!!! I've owned 4 variants of the 94x series and I think this is the ultimate expression of the series.

I need another one just in case something happens to the one I use for EDC!

Maybe I haven't had my 921 for long enough, but I haven't experienced anything like that. How is the clip chewing up your pocket?

The 941D2CF was a limited run of 500. New ones are going fast or may not even be available now. If you want one--act soon.

Medic1210,

The clip seems to pull tighter on the brown threads of my blue jeans pocket. There was a time when either the 921 or the 730CFHS was all I carried and my pockets started wearing quickly in that time (despite not doing so with a year of the 710 and regular 730 and a few years of Cold Steel folders in my right pocket). At first, I thought it was the 730CFHS, but I've noticed the 921's clip catching tighter when I retrieve it. Maybe it's because I already damaged the pants and just the tighter clip is noticed.

That said, it's still such a wonderful pocketknife for everyday use (assuming you're not working on drywall without access to power tools).
