So I talked over with my fried who I am going to give this knife to for feedback, it's a hunter, it made it big enough for him to comfortably handle, even had some pine scales on it to test for handle fit. My thought is to let him take it for a few weeks use it for whatever he wants and give me feedback and when done give it back and I will make something with the adjustments he came up with. If there are any suggestions you all have before I HT it I would be appreciative.

What I see is that finger cut out being too small and that choil can be a a hang up. In fact there isn't a need to have it there, even for looks. Maybe make changes on the next one. Frank

Frank is pointing out something I see on many new knives. The choil you have is just a semi-circle indent. That will serve no purpose. In fact, it will make the back part of the blade not cut as well ( or at all against a cutting surface).

Make the same indent, and then grind the heel ( the stub after the choil) higher until it reaches the top of the semi-circle. This exposes the edge for use and provides a safe end to prevent nicking your finger on the heel.

Wow I did not even think of that, I will fix that. Thanks Frank and Stacy you guys as always are fantastic

I have been trying to post to this thread since last night and it keeps timing out when I hit reply. Sorry

Gah, the forum just ate my post.... here is my like 4th try since last night.

Leave the knife the way it is and see what the feed back is and then change the next pattern. It helps learn and you will understand about what I am saying below after you try the stuff out.

I agree with Frank and Stacy I think the finger choil looks small in the pic, but it could be the right size. I got rid of my finger choils because some people really don't like them. So if you make it without a finger choil everyone can handle the knife comfortably.

And it won't let me post anything over three lines. So I guess I am done trying. I tried, Forum - 1, Brian - 0

I got rid of the front finger groove, and went a little into the blade where the sharpening choil was, next one I will not add the choil, or front finger groove but will radius out better so it isnt angled the way it is now. Finished it up too a 600 Grit I think the belt brand is Kingspor not sure I like them, I think the 3M Trizact at 400 grit does a smoother sanding, but anyhow just waiting on new belts to finish it off, and trying to locate a 2x42 scotchbrite belt

In the meantime I made sheath, not that great of a job, but it is only my third time making one.

Looks great! I think after you make a few of the adjustments you are already planning for your next one you will end up with one hellova knife.

Thanks Strider, this one is being dropped off with a friend just to get some feedback from a hunter, I told him to beat the hell out of it (within reason). Once I get his feedback I will make the changes if possible to the design. Already have all the materials, going to use a liner and mosaic pins for first time

Good job. Ergonomic handle. Fully functional blade edge. Nearly FFG. This should be a great user.

That looks very nice. Good job. And the sheath definitely looks better than my third attempt. It took quite a while for me and leather to be on speaking terms...

Thanks guys.

I watched a lot on leather working, got a few books, and the guy at Tandy helped a ton
