I'm about to order a Manbug. Deciding between a regular black VG10 and the Hap40. Which would you recommend and why. Brownie points if you post some photos of yours. Thanks!

I carry a hap40 dragonfly daily. It is on it's way to supplanting super blue as my favorite steel ever. Cuts like fresh vg10, holds an edge like m4, patinas like 3v and sharpens as easily as 1095. Its my idea of perfect small knife steel.

Have a ladybug in Hap, hope they use it in more knives in the future since it's such a small knife it's really limited in it's function and kind of difficult to sharpen (perhaps it need a bit of thinning although it does seem fairly thin as is) but I hear it takes and holds a very fine edge, I would choose the Hap although I've heard good things about vg10 - edge retention and ease of sharpening though somewhat chippy

VG10 from Spyderco is not chippy. Are you thinking of ZDP? Between those two itss about stainlessness If you want it to remain stainless, go with the VG10, otherwise Hap is good.

Just something I've read about VG10 properties, ZDP has no been chippy in my experience

I usually have a HAP40 or ZDP Manbug on me everday (along with another knife). I prefer the HAP40 but only because it's easy to get screaming sharp. I find that ZDP is fairly easy too but takes a little more work to get there.

I also have a bunch of knives with VG10. No performance problems with any of them and I find VG10 takes a great edge. If I didn't have Manbugs in HAP40 & ZDP I would happily own one with VG10.

HAP40/SUS410 all day. It's a sprint run. Burnt Orange increases visibility with subtleness. Now give me my brownie points!

Brownie points for both you AND Sharp Guy! :poop::poop: Sorry that's the only emoji that remotely resembles a brownie. Looks like everyone really loves their Hap40. Thanks for the input and photos

Buy the Manbug. Either steel will make you happy. This is a great knife.

Hap40 Manbug ordered. Tried one in the past and sold it out of guilt. Sold off a handful of knives to fund this one so I'm guilt free. Contemplated the VG10 but y'all pushed me towards the burnt orange again . I'll post some pics when it arrives.

Could you let me know where they are still in stock in Hap40? I can't find them.

Now you need to buy a G10 Manbug and put the Hap40 blade in there. A Supermanbug! :D

I have one with ZDP-189 blade inserted, my dedicated office EDC. So small and sturdy..

National Knives, Knifeworks, and DLT Trading (all BF sponsors) have them in stock. It looks like DLT Trading has them on sale.

I have the Hap40 sprint too, but the new Salt was the clear choice for the beach.

I started with a Manbug ZDP on my keychain but in the humidity of the sea, sweat, salt and sand it showed rust around the pivot in very short order. So, I resorted to a Ladybug Salt H-1 SpyderEdge and it has worked great. However, once the Manbug Salt H-1 Sheepsfoot SpyderEdge was announced I jumped on it a few weeks ago. Best yet! Much easier to hold and that Sheepsfoot blade is outstanding. Remember you can use the tip to cut and open packages with ease and it has a friendly tip for emergency situations. You can see mine below at the bottom of the picture below.

I didn't even know they did a salt version! I like how it has that Jot Singh thing going on since it's such a small knife
