The blade shape is exactly why I did not buy the MB Salt. I was disappointed. It is not for me, personally. I would have rather had the normal MB blade shape that I love so much in SE H1. However, I do appreciate others like it. Please, Spyderco, make the Salt with a regular blade.
One reason VG-10 may be a better choice than the HAP40 is that it is more corrosion resistant. Otherwise the HAP40 is a great choice.
