About to trash my Warthog sharpener.....anybody with one have some good advice?

Tried a warthog when out west elk hunting this fall and it put a dang good edge on a knife of mine. I figured I would try one out when I got back home, and the one I have sharpens well, but scratches the hell out of the flats on the spine of the blade. Yes, I have read the owners manual and yes I have paid attention to all the videos online, but no matter how it is adjusted, and no matter how careful I am, it scratches the blades.

Any suggestions? I am about to pull my hair out over this. Adjust, sharpen, head back to my buffer to buff out scratches on the spine.....same thing every time.

Tape the spine with painters tape?

did you ever buy a set of paper wheels yet? that would solve your problem .

Tried the paper wheels and never could get the hang of it....

Still got the paper wheels....just hanging on a peg right now.
